This is a sketch for a variant cover for the comic ‘Dave: Zombie Hunter’ which is written by my very talented man, Stewart Cook. The sketch is of Vera, Dave’s zombie mashing girlfriend. Looking forward to inking her & adding some background detail.
Another of the variant covers/posters for Dave: The Finale, this one by Australia’s own Dave Heinrich. Having someone like Dave work on our our mad little comic has been a total thrill! I mean how awesome is that pan wielding Father Monty??
As to where the final volume is? Tim’s finally free from an overwhelming work schedule and 2012 is gonna happen. We’ll both be appearing at SupaNova in Melbourne in April and likely Oz-ComicCon in Adelaide. So if you’re keen to get a sketch, buy Part One or simply say hi then please do so. I’ve been going back over Dave and taking a second look at pages I wasn’t entirely happy with. Towards the end of last year as I was putting it all together, I must admit to being a bit burnt out from viewing the same images over and over and reading my own jokes repeatedly (even if they did and do, still make me laugh out loud)
I kinda felt like the last few pages of the first half (Book One) didn’t perhaps get as much love as they deserved. The screen grab here is a re-working of the second to last page, upping the impact of Trevors mighty punch and re-inserting some panels that got (stupidly) left on the cutting room floor at the time. I mean LOOK at that last panel from Tim, it’s sheer bloody magic!!
More awesome to come (including new art from the second half real soon, right Timothy Bruce Ide?)
